Substantial Medieval satchel dating from 14-17thC with a gusset that makes for a great internal volume with incised and stamped decoration on the front flap and a period appropriate latten (brass) buckle. There is a long leather shoulder strap which fastens with another latten buckle.
Will suit lower and middle class folk with bits and bobs to carry.ย
Medieval people didnโt have pockets in their clothing so they wore belt pouches often called at the time pockets and used them to carry all their daily essentials. Whether you are a living history purist or you like to carry your car keys, mobile phone, a packet of crisps and some loose change, these will suit.
Based on a composite of manuscript pictures.ย
Height 17cm/ 6.75inchesย
Width of pouch 23cm/9inchesย
With of opening 20cm/8inchesย
Approximate total length of shoulder strap 182cm/6 feetย
Please note: The colours may vary in tone from the photos here. Each skin of leather is different and reacts differently to the dye so they may be darker or lighter in tone
